A recent peer-reviewed paper found owners reported flea & tick products using the potent pesticide, Isoxazoline, cause a reaction in 2 OUT OF 3 DOGS! Reactions include seizures, behavioural issues, muscular/balance issues, and even death. The pesticide can be found in products like: NEXGARD, NEXGARD SPECTRA, BRAVECTO, SIMPARICA, CREDELIO, REVOLUTION PLUS, and others. This pesticide is so powerfully potent that it starts killing within two hours after administration! In fact, it kills 98.7% of newly arriving fleas within 24 hours! Because of this, Isoxazoline drugs now carry a warning on their labels in both the U.S. and Canada. Even the FDA-U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning statement for veterinarians and pet parents. SUGGESTIONS - I mix up an essential oil spray which I use when we go for walks during tick/flea season:

Here is the essential oil recipe. 4 ounce spray bottle Fill the bottle 1/3 full with apple cider vinegar 10 drops of geranium essential oil 5 drops of cedarwood essential oil Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled/filtered or spring water. Apply every 3 or 4 days.

Depending on how bad the ticks are spray before every walk. I spritz it on the fur and rub it in with my hands . Get under belly. I spray it in my hands and rub their head. Don’t get in eyes/ nose/ mouth.

I comb them out when I get home from the walk and makes sure no ticks are crawling. If the ticks are bad I use Frontline Plus and the essential oil spray. Frontline plus kills the ticks when after they bite. Avantage and Avantix is also a topical.

You can also make a bandana with the essential oils but make sure you take it off after the walk.

I also spray our clothes with it. It does repel ticks.

I have also mixed the same recipe and taken out the vinegar and water and added and oil as the carrier to spray on our ankles.

This spray and Frontline Plus is also good for fleas.

I maybe use 2 or 3 applications of Frontline Plus on my dogs a year pending ticks and our outdoor activities. Along with this we spray our yard with Wondercide. Wondercide also has all natural products you can use on your pets.

BOTTOM LINE - JUST BE THOUGHTFUL ON WHAT CHEMICALS YOU USE ON YOUR FURRY FRIEND.
